Fox, Kinas Named Runners Of The Week

Second career weekly award for Fox

MILWAUKEE – Senior Mikayla Fox of the Milwaukee women's cross country team has been named Horizon League Runner of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. Freshman Cailin Kinas was also recognized, claiming Horizon League Freshman Runner of the Week.

The weekly honors are the first of the season for the Panthers and the second of Fox's career. Kinas collects her first award after a strong start to her Milwaukee career.

Fox was acknowledged after pacing the Panthers for the third consecutive meet on Saturday at the 35th Annual Roy Griak Invite in St. Paul, Minn. The senior raced to a time of 22:31.8 in the 6K, placing 57th in the field of 234 to finish as the top Horizon League runner at the meet.

Kinas was named freshman of the week after crossing the finish line as the fourth Panther runner at the Roy Griak Invite. The Kaukauna, Wis., native recorded a time of 23:25.9, good for 109th in her second collegiate 6K.

The two runners guided Milwaukee to a 15th-place team finish at the meet, as the Black & Gold tallied 402 points in the field of 21 teams. The Panthers placed ahead of league foe UIC (569 points) at the event and competed with several ranked teams.

MKE returns to the course Saturday afternoon at the Ranger Open in Kenosha, Wis.
