INDIANAPOLIS, Ind – The Milwaukee swim & dive teams competed in the final five events and wrapped up the House of Champions Invitational on Saturday, recording several more impressive performances throughout.
At the conclusion of the invite, the women's team placed fifth out of nine teams with a total of 846 points. They were the second highest scoring Horizon League team at the invite, finishing ahead of IUPUI and Green Bay. The men finished sixth out of seven with 838 points and were the third league team.
Like the previous two days, preliminaries in the five swimming events took place early this morning before the top 24 swimmers in each event competed in three flights for the finals.
Three Panthers on the women's side competed in the A finals on day three, including
Skylar Ruggles, who placed fifth in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:01.76.
Makaila Scheiblein finished fifth in the 200 breaststroke, touching the wall at 2:19.94 while freshman
Nhia Caras was eighth in the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.44.
On the men's side, several Panthers posted strong results in the B finals, including a first-place finish from
Zach McClellan (1:51.73) in the 200 fly. In the 200 back,
Conrad Farrell (1:52.24) and
Mason Schoof (1:52.29) finished back-to-back in the B finals, placing second and third respectively.
Milwaukee posted solid results in the 1650 free, led by a third-place finish from
Jay Jensen (15:52.71) on the men's side.
Jack Garcia (16:13.77) and
Vince Chiappetta (16:15.59) placed ninth and tenth in the same event.
In the 200 butterfly,
Bri Zablocki finished first in the C finals, posting a time of 2:09.91. The Panthers 400 free relay team of
Kelen McDaniels,
Cassandra Hutchins,
Meghan Jagdfeld, and Caras finished fourth with a time of 3:27.02.
Milwaukee closed out the first half of its season with the House of Champions Invitational and will return to the pool Saturday, January 15 when they host the University of Chicago at 1 p.m. inside the Klotsche Natatorium.
