MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee men's swimming and diving team swept all 12 events in the dual meet against St. Norbert on Saturday, Jan. 4, at the Klotsche Natatorium. The Panthers swam to a dominating, 151-65, win over the Green Knights.
Milwaukee opened up the meet taking the top three spots in the 400 medley relay. The relay team of
Patrick Kelley,
Justin Ogle,
Ryan Hakes, and
Brandon Niemiec led the way in 3:33.85 to finish first, while the relay of
Mason Schoof,
Zach Hammond,
Jacob Weber, and
Jacob Fase touched the wall just behind in 3:33.91 for second place and the Panther squad of
Tyler Wrasman,
Daniel Jablonski,
John Ruan, and
Carson Niemiec followed suit to finish third in 3:36.93.
The distance squad of
Dane Van Allen and
Colin Duffy continued the strong start with a 1-2 punch in the 1000 free. Van Allen finished first with a time of 9:57.91 while Duffy claimed second in 10:09.59.
In the 200 free, the Panthers grabbed the top four spots.
Ryan Scripp (1:45.06) turned the jets on to finish first,
Jack Garcia (1:47.50) came in second while
Brandon Niemiec (1:50.74) finished third and
Carson Niemiec (1:54.49) claimed fourth.
The sprinting crew of Ruan (21.87) and
Jonathan Kollen (22.47) finished first and third respectively.
In the 200 IM, Kelley (1:56.76) and Schoof (1:57.77) led the charge from the start to finish first and second while teammate
Tim Greci (2:04.38) grabbed third.
Danny O'Brien swam the 200 fly to a first-place finish with a time of 2:00.42 while Hakes added another win for the Panthers in the 100 free (47.57).
Ben Huynh also grabbed a Panther win in the 200 back in 1:55.28.
Swimming the 500 free,
Andrew Grever (4:44.23) and Kollen (4:54.50) dominated the field to take the top two spots.
From the boards,
Jared Kleczka finished with a score of 276.60 for first place on the one-meter while teammate
Spencer Peronto scored 185.32 for second place.
In the 200 breast, Fase led the charge in 2:12.61 to add another win for Milwaukee.
The relay team of
Danny Larson, Duffy,
Brandon Niemiec, and Greci topped the night off with a first-place finish in the 400 free relay (3:16.38).
ON DECK
Milwaukee is off to train in the Sunshine State before returning to action against the University of Chicago on Saturday, Jan. 18, in Chicago, Ill.
