Milwaukee Track & Field Claims Pair of Horizon League Weekly Awards

April 28, 2026

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee track & field team secured two of the Horizon League weekly outdoor honors, announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

In a sweep of the field awards, Anna Szepieniec earned Women's Field Athlete of the Week, while Josh Cygan earned the Men's Field Athlete of the Week nod.

Szepieniec receives her second field honor of her junior outdoor campaign after an incredible showing at Louisville's Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Open. At the meet in Louisville, Ky., she broke the school record in the long jump with her 6.35-meter leap, finishing runner-up. Her mark surpassed the previous school record of 6.13 meters set by Samia Taylor in 2013. Szepieniec currently sits first in the Horizon League and tied-23rd in all of NCAA Division I for the event.

Also earning his second field nod of the outdoor season is Cygan, who competed at the meet in Louisville, Ky., as well. The sophomore won the discus throw for the second time this season after his 52.86-meter effort. Cygan, who has finished in the top-6 in each of his discus appearances this season, holds the top spot in the league for the event.
