Panthers Land 10 on Horizon League All-Academic Team

MILWAUKEE – 10 members of the Milwaukee indoor track & field teams received Valeo Horizon League All-Academic honors from the Horizon League office Thursday.
 
On the men's side, Cullen Boyle and Karsten Grundahl received the award while Lucas Picco and Zac Schmidt picked up honorable mention nods.
 
For the women's team, Isabel Roloff, Anna Szepieniec, Olivia VanZeeland, and Kallie Volk earned the honor, with Victoria Evtimov and Angelica Refinski being named honorable mention recipients.
 
Boyle, an architecture major, earns the nod while holding a 3.88 GPA. Last season, he was a member of the 2025 Horizon League Indoor and Outdoor All-Academic teams. This indoor season, Boyle recorded two top-five finishes for the Panthers and earned a spot on the Fall 2025 Horizon League Academic Honor Roll.
 
Sustaining an impressive 4.00 GPA is Grundahl, a finance major. At the Horizon League Indoor Championships, he was a member of the Horizon League Champion 4x400 relay team and he finished second in the 800-meter run. Grundahl has been named to the Dean's List his last three semesters and was a Fall 2025 Horizon League Academic Honor Roll honoree.
 
Picco, an economics major with a 3.71 GPA, earned honorable mention honors in his junior campaign. He currently ranks fourth in program history in the 800-meter run and fifth in the 600-meter run. Picco turned in two top-five finishes as well and was a two-time Horizon League Men's Runner of the week this season.
 
Keeping a 3.73 GPA is psychology major Zac Schmidt. He was also a member of the Horizon League Champion 4x400 relay squad this season. Individually, he finished fifth in the 400-meter run finals at the championships.
 
Roloff receives the nod while maintaining a 4.00 GPA as an accounting major. At GVSU's Big Meet Friday, she ran the seventh-fastest 60-meter dash in program history. She has been a consistent member of the Dean's List while at Milwaukee and was named to both the 2025 Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Horizon League All-Academic Teams.
 
Capping off an impressive junior season is kinesiology major Szepieniec, who earns the honor while holding a 3.77 GPA. At the Horizon League Indoor Championships, Szepieniec took home titles in the pentathlon, long jump, and triple jump. She was also honored as the 2026 Alfreeda Goff Women's Athlete of the Year and the Indoor Women's Championship Outstanding Field Performer.
 
VanZeeland, a kinesiology major holding a 3.92 GPA, repeats as a Horizon Legue All-Academic honoree. She won the high jump four times this season, including at the Horizon League Championships where she cleared a season-best 1.73 meters. Throughout her senior campaign, VanZeeland was awarded two Horizon League Women's Field Athlete of the Week awards.
 
Sustaining a 4.00 GPA as a kinesiology major is Volk who finished third in the long jump, triple jump, and pentathlon at the Horizon League Indoor Championships. Volk was a member of the 2025 Horizon League Outdoor All-Academic Team as well as the Fall 2025 Horizon League Academic Honor Roll.
 
Earning honorable mention honors is Evtimov who holds a 4.00 GPA while studying neuroscience. She was a member of the school-record 4x400 relay team that placed third at the Horizon League Championships. She has been a member of the Dean's List each of her last three semester and was named to the Fall 2025 Horizon League Academic Honor Roll.
 
The second honorable mention nod for the Milwaukee women goes to Refinski, a kinesiology major who sustains a 4.00 GPA. Refinski posted six top-10 finishes this year for the Panthers headlined by a first-place 200-meter outing at the Tierney Classic. She has also been a member of the Dean's List each of her last three semesters.

The Panthers look ahead to their first outdoor meet of the season, the Raleigh Relays, hosted by NC State in Raleigh, N.C. The meet will take place at the Dail Track Complex from Mar. 26-28.
