MILWAUKEE – Stevie Elam of the Milwaukee men's basketball team has been named the Horizon League Under Armour Freshman of the Week, the league office announced this afternoon.
 
The award is the second of the campaign for the talented newcomer, as well as the third for the program this season (also Josh Dixon Dec. 22).
 
Elam came up big for Milwaukee against Youngstown State Feb. 25, leading the way with a game-high 19 points. He went 6-of-12 from the floor, made 4-of-8 from deep, and hit all three of his free throws. He added eight rebounds, three assists, and a season-high four steals.
 
Elam and the Panthers open postseason play this week at Detroit Mercy Wednesday evening.
