MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee swim & dive teams will complete their regular season schedules when they travel to Madison, Wis., for the Wisconsin Badger Invitational Friday.
The two-day meet will take place at the Soderholm Family Aquatic Center Feb. 6-7, with each day beginning with the preliminary rounds at 10 a.m., followed by the finals at 4 p.m.
LAST TIME IN THE POOL
The Panther men's and women's teams are coming off dual victories against Stevens Point in the Klotsche Natatorium. The men topped the Pointers 160-108, improving their dual season record to 5-2, while the women similarly bested the visiting team 170-86, bringing their dual season record to 4-3.
The men were led by
Caleb Carlisle who has put together a strong sophomore campaign. Carlisle set a new personal-best in the 100 Freestyle with his 44.94 effort, finishing first. Alongside
Gunnar Seversen,
Larry Rattler, and
Charlie House, he was a member of the winning 200 Freestyle Relay team as well. The squad completed the event in 1:23.25.
Jean Ducastel also set a new personal-best on the day, touching the wall first in the 200 Backstroke with his 1:48.26 outing.
On top of his winning 200 Freestyle Relay performance, Seversen set a personal best in the 1000 Freestyle. Seversen won the event, finishing in 9:24.51.
In the diving events,
Will Francis swept the 1-meter and 3-meter dives for the third straight meet. He recorded scores of 278.93 and 290.48, respectively.
On the women's side,
Erika Thomas secured three victories against the Pointers. Thomas won the 100 Freestyle (54.05), won the 500 Freestyle (5:11.90) with her personal-best performance, and was a key component of the 200 Medley Relay team.
A pair of Panthers stood out as
Mara Freeman and
Gabrielle LePine each secured two victories. LePine captured the 100 Breaststroke in 1:08.11 and helped lead the 200 Freestyle Relay to a win, while Freeman topped the field in the 100 Backstroke (57.63) and contributed to the winning 200 Medley Relay.
Kristina Wittmann won the 1-meter Dive with her 283.58-point performance. She saw the same outcome in the 3-meter Dive, where she secured the win with 277.43 points.
LEPINE CONTINUES TO SHINE
In her junior season,
Gabrielle LePine has emerged as one of the league's top performers. The reigning Horizon League 100 Breaststroke Champion currently ranks first in the league in the 50 Breaststroke and 100 Breaststroke and is among the top three in the 200 Breaststroke and 50 Freestyle.
WITTMANN WEEKLY
Kristina Wittmann has been named Women's Diver of the Week twice this season, receiving the honor for her efforts after sweeping the diving events against MSOE and Green Bay.
SIX RECORDS. ONE SEASON.
In his first season as a Panther,
Sam Lorenz has made his way into the Panther record books. At IU Indy's House of Champions Invitational, Lorenz was part of six school-record performances. Lorenz set individual Panther records in the 50 Freestyle (19.68), 100 Backstroke (45.75), and the 200 Backstroke (1:43.49) as well as relay records in the 200 Medley Relay (1:26.64), 400 Medley Relay (3:12.51), and the 400 Freestyle Relay (2:57.20).

U.S. OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS
The trio of Lorenz, LePine, and Carlisle represented Milwaukee at the U.S. Open Championships in Austin, Texas, from December 3-6. In the 50 Backstroke A-Final,
Sam Lorenz took sixth in a loaded pool, finishing with a time of 25.29. LePine competed in the 50 and 100 Breaststroke, while Carlisle raced the 50 Breaststroke, 50 Butterfly, and 100 Butterfly.
