February 21, 2026

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Milwaukee swim & dive teams wrapped up Horizon League Championship action inside the IU Natatorium Saturday.

At the end of the four-day championships, the women secured second place for the third year in a row with 641 points, while the men placed fourth for the second straight year, earning 438 points.

"It's hard to summarize what this week is like for the team," said head coach Kyle Clements. "The highs and lows, the records and places, the smiles and tears are just some of the things happening down on deck. All I know for sure is I am proud of everyone that makes up this team. It isn't always easy or fun, but we do it anyway. We do for the opportunity to race. We do it to see if we can go faster than ever before. We do it for a chance to do something special."

Day four was highlighted by Sam Lorenz setting the Horizon League Championships record in the 200 backstroke. Swimming in the consolation final, Lorenz clocked a Division I A cut time of 1:41.60.

The 4x400 freestyle relay team of Charlie House, Lorenz, Caleb Carlisle, and Gunnar Seversen set a new program standard in the event. The unit finished third, just 0.11 seconds behind the second-place team, turning in a time of 2:52.93.

Carlisle made his way into the top-five of the 200 butterfly. He touched the wall fifth, finishing the event in 1:46.96.

In the 200 breaststroke, Andrew Jones set a new personal-best as the top Panther finisher with his 2:01.19 outing.

For the women, Maddi Hayashi continued her dominance in the butterfly events. Maddi won the 200 butterfly for her second individual victory of the championships. She touched the wall in 2:01.71.

Also shining in the 200 butterfly was Erika Thomas who secured fifth place (2:04.16).

The women's 4x400 freestyle relay team broke the Panther record in the event as well. The squad of Gabrielle LePine, Brielle Laube, Mara Freeman, and Christiana Brooks finished second in the event with their 3:22.18 showing.

Brooks took home a second victory on the day, winning the 100 freestyle with her career-best 49.98 effort. Laube also qualified for the finals in the event, finishing eighth (51.51).

In the 200 breaststroke, Nadia Switalski turned in an impressive 2:22.19 outing, touching the wall sixth.
