PREVIEW: Panthers Prepare for Wheaton College

Milwaukee heads to Illinois to battle Thunder

November 05, 2026

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee swim & dive program is set to take on its first dual meet of the 2026-27 season Friday, Nov. 6, when they travel south to battle against Wheaton College at the Jonathan Lederhouse Natatorium. The competition is scheduled to get underway at 5:00 p.m. CT.

The Panthers are fresh off of a strong showing at the UIC Triangular, where they faced off against conference foe IU Indy and host, UIC.

On the men's side, Milwaukee tied with UIC and fell to IU Indy. Gunnar Seversen looked the part as one of the top swimmers in the conference, accounting for a pair of individual first-place finishes. The Woodbury, Minn. native shattered a second school record in as many weeks, this time doing so in the 1000 freestyle.

The junior broke Nic Halverson's 11-year record by approximately 10 seconds, turning in a time of 9:07.76 last Saturday. He won the 500 freestyle by over eight seconds as well. Seversen went on to earn the Horizon League Men's Swimmer of the Week award for the second time this season after his performance over the weekend.

Sam Lorenz saw some of his first action after a historic 2025-26 for the Panthers, placing first in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:42.23.

For the women, the unit secured its first win of the 2026-27, besting the Jaguars to improve to 1-0 in Horizon League action. The team lost to the Flames with a final score of 113.5-128.5.

After earning two first-place finishes a couple of weeks ago, Kristina Wittmann continued to shine in the diving events for Milwaukee. The Germantown, Wis. native earned gold in both the one-meter and three-meter dive last Saturday.

With her showing, Wittmann tallied her third career Horizon League Women's Diver of the Week honor this past Wednesday.

The 400 medley relay unit showed well with a first-place finish at the UIC Triangular, led by the combination of Christiana Brooks, Heidi Swerkun, Maddi Hayashi and Tatum Scully.

Swerkun, in just her second collegiate meet, racked up a first-place finish in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:20.26.

After Friday's meet, Milwaukee will take on IU Indy's House of Champions Meet between Wednesday, Nov. 19 and Friday, Nov. 21 to wrap up the 2026 portion of its schedule.
