PREVIEW: Panthers Take on UIC Triangular

Milwaukee seeks to build momentum after strong season opener

October 29, 2026

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee swim & dive program returns to the pool Saturday, Oct. 31, to compete at the UIC Triangular against conference foe IU Indy and host UIC.

The meet is set to get underway at 10:30 a.m. CT on Halloween morning from Flames Natatorium in Chicago.

Two weeks ago, the Panthers dominated the Wisconsin Showcase to kick off their 2026-27 campaign, highlighted by a combined 19 first-place finishes between the men's and women's teams.

Gunnar Seversen emerged as the standout, shattering Patrick Kelley's (2020) school record in the 200 IM with a time of 1:48.05. After winning two more events, the Woodbury, Minn. native went on to earn Horizon League Men's Swimmer of the Week honors, good for the third weekly honor of his career.

The men's team went on to notch first place amongst five programs, tallying 1,768.5 points as a unit. Charlie House, Jean Ducastel and Macyn Sawall each won individual events, carrying on momentum from a strong 2025-26.

On the women's side, the team produced 10 first-place finishes at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center, highlighted by a pair turned in by Maddi Hayashi, Tatum Scully and Kristina Wittmann.

Hayashi, after winning the 100 and 200 butterfly at the Horizon League Championships last year, was more of the same at the Wisconsin showcase to begin her 2026-27 season. Fellow Horizon League champion, Christiana Brooks, dominated the 100 freestyle, taking first place by over a second.

Milwaukee went on to sweep the event, as the women's team notched first among six programs with a team score of 1,798 points.

The Panthers' women's team owns a 27-10 overall record over UIC, and a 8-2 all-time series advantage over IU Indy. The Jaguars hold a 6-4 series lead over the Milwaukee men's program, while the Panthers lead the all-time series against the Flames at 19-18-1.

The Panthers will return to competition Friday, Nov. 6, as they will head back to Illinois to face Wheaton College in a duel. The meet is slated to get started at 5:00 p.m. CT from the Jonathan Lederhouse Natatorium.
