Panthers Prepare for Test at the Phoenix Open

September 05, 2025

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee cross country teams will be making a return trip to Green Bay, Wis. to compete in the Phoenix Open on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 11:30 a.m.

The Panthers had a strong first showing at the Tom Barry Invitational a week ago, but both teams will look to improve their performances when facing the Phoenix. The women finished third out of 11 teams with a team score of 71 points, while the men also finished third, recording 74 points.

Despite being at the same course as last week's competition, the women's 5k will be extended to the 6k, and the men's 6k will be lengthened to the 8k.

THE WOMEN
The women's team is led by Anelise Egge, a three-time First Team All-Horizon League athlete. Egge was the top Panther to cross the finish line a week ago, recording a ninth place finish. Anna Gallagher also had a strong showing for Milwaukee, notching thirteenth.

Freshman Janiyah Taylor put up an impressive first race wearing the Black and Gold. She completed the race fourteenth, serving as the spark plug for this Milwaukee unit. Showing continued promise from last year's campaign, Rachel Helm claimed fifteenth place.

THE MEN
The Milwaukee men were led by three top ten finishers last weekend. Cullen Boyle finished fourth overall and was the first Panther to complete the event.

Sam Schreiber closely followed behind, notching seventh. Will Whiteis also brought a strong performance to the race, crossing the finish line eighth for Milwaukee.

UP NEXT
The Panthers will be given a week off from competition before they travel to Fort Wayne, Ind. for the Rumble at the Fort Invitational. The meet will begin at 10 a.m. on Sept. 20 at Mastodon Cross Country Course.
