MILWAUKEE – Priscilla Schultz was introduced as the newest addition to the Milwaukee cross country and track & field coaching staff, as announced by head coach
Andrew Basler.
Â
Schultz will join Milwaukee as the associate head cross country coach and an assistant track & field coach.
Â
"It was evident from the start of the hiring process that Priscilla was the best person for this position," said Basler. "Her journey as a student-athlete and then professional runner shows her understanding of what it takes to reach high levels in our sport. She brings a wealth of knowledge, coaching education, and coaching experience that will immediately impact not only our distance group, but our program as a whole.
Â
"Priscilla's connections domestically and internationally will elevate how we recruit future middle-distance and distance athletes to Milwaukee," Basler continued. "Most importantly, her character and values align perfectly with how we operate as a program. I could not be more excited to welcome Priscilla and her family to Milwaukee!"
Â
Schultz comes to the staff after spending the past three seasons as an assistant coach for both the cross country and track & field programs at the University of Arizona. While in Tucson, she assisted the head distance coach in overseeing the distance and cross country groups and led the 800m group during the 2024-25 season. Her responsibilities also included managing home meets and coordinating official visits for recruits.
Â
"Thank you to Head Coach
Andrew Basler, Deputy Director of Athletics,
Cathy Rossi, and Director of Athletics,
Amanda Braun for this fantastic opportunity to join the Panther community," commented Schultz.
Â
"From the moment I stepped on campus, I felt an immediate connection to the staff and student-athletes at Milwaukee," she added. "I believe the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is a great place for student athletes to excel on and off the track. I look forward to assisting Coach Basler in executing his vision and plan for the Milwaukee program and achieving greatness at the conference and national level."
Â
During her time at Arizona, Schultz successfully coached multiple athletes to top-25 conference rankings and guided several into the program's all-time Top-10 list. Among her accomplishments, she led the steeplechase group to score key points at the conference championship meet.
Â
Before her time at Arizona, Schultz served as the head cross country coach and was an assistant track coach at Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona, for more than three years. Under her leadership, both the boys' and girls' teams qualified for the AIA State Championship, with several student-athletes earning all-state honors, including the 2021 Division I state champion in the 800m.
Â
Schultz began her collegiate coaching career at Arizona State University, where she first served as a volunteer assistant coach before taking on the role of director of track & field operations during her final year in Tempe.
Â
As a student-athlete, Schultz competed for the Sun Devils at Arizona State and earned national recognition in both in cross country and track & field. She competed in the 2000 USATF Olympic Trials in the 800m and 1500m events and qualified for the 2001 and 2002 USA Outdoor National Championships in the 1500m. She was also the 2001 USATF Club National Champion in cross country.
Â
Schultz earned her undergraduate degree in exercise science/kinesiology from Arizona State. She was an Academic All-American and the first female All-American in Sun Devil cross country history. Her decorated career included school records in the mile and 1500m, along with top-10 marks in the 800m, mile, 1500m, and 3000m.
Â
She holds USATF Level Two Coaching Certifications in both endurance and sprints, as well as a USATF Cross Country Specialist Certification.
