INDIANAPOLIS – On Tuesday afternoon the Horizon League announced that Milwaukee's
Gavin Theis was named the Pitcher of the Week.

Theis earned the honor after pitching eight shutout innings in his final home start of the season on Friday against Purdue Fort Wayne. He picked up his league-leading eighth win of the season, striking out seven Mastodons while allowing just four hits and three walks over 103 pitches.

So far in 2025, he has thrown 75 innings and boasts a Horizon League-leading a 4.08 ERA. He ranks second in the league with 66 strikeouts and holds opponents to a .253 batting average. Among qualified pitchers, he has also allowed the second fewest runs in the league with 36.

This is the second time this season that Theis has earned weekly honors, having previously been selected on
Apr. 15. It is the third such recognition of his career, following a selection on
May 20.

In 42 career appearances, including 17 starts, Theis has thrown 129 1/3 innings with a 4.87 ERA. He has recorded 104 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .254 batting average. His career record stands at 11 wins and five losses.

Milwaukee will wrap up the 2025 regular season this weekend at Oakland, with a three-game series beginning on Thursday, May 15. First pitch at the Oakland Baseball Field will take place at 2:00 p.m. (CT).
