MILWAUKEE - Seven members of the Milwaukee swimming & diving teams were honored when the 2025 Valeo Horizon League All-Academic team was announced by the league on Thursday afternoon.

Representing the men were,
Ben Lorenz,
Jay Jensen, and
Andrew Jones, while
Jackson Ahrens received an honorable mention from the league.

For the women, it was
Mara Freeman,
Janelle Schulz, and
Therese Missiaen earning their spots on the team on the All-Academic Team.

It's a repeat performance for Lorenz, who also took home the honors in 2024. He has also been a member of both the 2023 and 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Teams.

Lorenz is finishing his senior year as a Panther where he is working towards a degree in physics and currently has a 3.73 GPA. In the pool, he finished his career at the Horizon League Championships, where he notched a fifth-place finish in the 50 freestyle and helped the 200 freestyle and medley relay teams to school records. Earlier in the season he became the first swimmer in program history to finish the 50 freestyle in under 20 seconds with a mark of 19.97.

Jensen earns his first All-Academic nod as a graduate student studying Geographic Information Systems, holding a GPA of 3.86. He has already earned a bachelor's degree in Conservation and Environmental Science after graduating with an undergraduate grade-point average of 3.93. At this year's Horizon League Championships Jensen took third place in the 400 individual medley and helped the 800 freestyle relay team take down a program record.

Jones is a psychology major currently boasting a GPA of 3.93. His season was highlighted at the league championships where he swam to a school-record time of 54.69 in the 100 breaststroke on his way to a sixth-place finish. Jones also was a member of the program record-setting 400 medley relay team at the event.

Ahrens was given the honorable mention as a senior marketing student with a 3.81 GPA. At this year's league championships, Ahrens helped the 200 and 800 freestyle relay teams to school-record performances.

For the women, Freeman and Missiean find themselves on the list for the second-straight seasons, while Schulz joined the two of them on last year's CSC Academic All-District team.

Freeman currently holds a 4.00 GPA as a junior accounting major at Milwaukee. She cemented herself as one of the top athletes in league this year as she finished as runner-up in both the 100 and 200 backstrokes at the league championships. She also helped the 400 medley relay team to a program-best time and a league title.

Schulz is finishing her senior year as a biomedical engineering major with a GPA of 3.90. She was sensational at this year's league championship meet taking third in the 50 and 200 freestyles, and second in the 100 freestyle. She added two conference titles in the 400 medley and 200 freestyle relays, setting school records in both.

As a senior kinesiology major, Missiaen holds a GPA of 3.96, and finished 13th in the one-meter dive at the Horizon League Championships.
