Jaelyn Reeves-Lile Adds Two More School Records in Outstanding Performance at Big Meet Friday

February 14, 2025

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Milwaukee men's track & field team continued its indoor season competing at Grand Valley State's Big Meet Friday.

Jaelyn Reeves-Lile continued his campaign of rewriting the program's indoor record book. He started by resetting the 60m dash record for the third time this season at 6.70, an improvement over the 6.72 that he posted last time out on Feb. 8, good for third place on the day.

Reeves-Lile followed that up in the 200m dash with another record-setting time of 21.30, enough to finish third in the event. The performance takes down the previous record of 21.44 set by Marquis Johnson in 2016. Reeves-Lile now holds the program indoor records in the 60m dash, 200m dash, and 300m dash.

"Jaelyn absolutely owned the day with two school records," said head coach Andrew Basler.

Moving to the 800m run, Lucas Picco competed in the afternoon session of the event where he climbed into fourth place on the school's indoor leaderboard registering a time of 1:50.66. Picco's performance was the best by any Horizon League runner this season. Karsten Grundahl finished second in the early section of the event with his time of 1:53.27.

"Our 800m group ran extremely tough getting a conference leading mark from Lucas, as well as a strong performance from Karsten," Basler continued.

In the 400m dash, Nate Taylor crossed the finish line in 49.32 to grab the win for the Panthers.

Iyimi Fagbamiye used a time of 8.08 to make it out of the prelims of the 60m hurdles, eventually taking sixth in the event by notching an 8.07 in the finals.

The best performance in the 5000m run came from Cullen Boyle who finished fourth out of the 23 runners with a time of 15:00.79.

"We really performed well on the big track today," concluded Basler. "I really saw a lot of effort, grit and support. This meet was exactly what we needed two weeks out from the conference championship meet."
