MILWAUKEE – Josh Dixon of the Milwaukee men's basketball team has been named the Lou Henson Award National Mid-Major Player of the Week, announced Monday by CollegeInsider.com.

He was also named the Horizon League Under Armour Freshman of the Week today.

Dixon put together quite a pair of performances for the Panthers, leading the team to a 2-0 week with victories over South Dakota State at Fiserv Forum (88-87 Friday) and on the road against Cleveland State (81-71 Sunday), averaging 26.0 points per game.

Making the first two starts of his collegiate career, Dixon led the way with 24 points in the win over the Jackrabbits and then followed that up with 28 points in the victory over the Vikings Sunday.

He shot 48.6 percent (18-of-37) from the floor overall, 41.2 percent (7-of-17) from three-point range, and 90.0 percent (9-of-10) from the line. He added eight rebounds (4.0 rpg) and five total assists. His prior season-high for points in a game coming into Friday was 11.

His 28-point outburst marked the fourth-highest single-game point total for a freshman in Milwaukee program history.
