Milwaukee Men Rise to Fourth, Women Maintain Fifth at House of Champions

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Milwaukee swim & dive teams competed at the House of Champions held at the IU Natatorium on Friday.
 
At the end of day two, the men climbed to fourth place out of 11 teams, earning 1051 points. The women held steady securing fifth place in the 13-team field, totaling 962.5 points.
 
Gabrielle LePine started the day off strong with a championship final victory in the 50 Breaststroke, recording a time of 28.09. She saw the same outcome in the 100 Breaststroke, where she clocked a finals time of 1:01.05. This performance was just .04 seconds off her career high which she set in February 2025. LePine was not done there, as she helped turn in a second-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay (1:41.30) alongside Mara Freeman, Maddi Hayashi, and Christiana Brooks.
 
Freeman also saw success at the meet, touching the wall third out of 32 total swimmers in the 100 Backstroke. She recorded a finals time of 54.66, setting a new personal best. This outing puts Freeman second in the Panther record books for the 100 Backstroke.
 
Other notable Panther performances included Hayashi turning in a sixth-place finish in the 100 Butterfly finals and the unit of Erika Thomas, Natalie DiProspero, Catelyn Fonda, and Audrey Dixon coming in fifth in the 800 Freestyle Relay.
 
For the men, records continue to be broken as the team reaches the halfway point of the season. Sam Lorenz led the charge, securing the crown in the 100 Backstroke and finishing over 2.5 seconds faster than the next closest swimmer. His prelim time of 45.75 sets a new Panther record for the event. In the 200 Medley Relay, the team of Lorenz, Alvin Valkki, Caleb Carlisle, and Gunnar Seversen claimed a second-place finish (1:26.64), setting another school record.
 
Andrew Jones set a Black & Gold record at the meet hosted by IU Indy as well, clocking a time of 54:57 in the 100 Breaststroke finals. Jones bested his own school record by .12 seconds.
 
Carlisle had a successful day in the pool, securing a third-place championship finish in the 100 Butterfly. He clocked a time of 47.79.
 
The unit of Josh Crook, Max Dexter, Logan Beebe, and Aleksander Piljevic made freshman history on Friday in the IU Natatorium, finishing the 200 Medley Relay in 1:31.57. This feat marked the fastest freshman 200 Medley Relay performance in Panther history
 
In total, the Black & Gold saw 41 individual final swims.
