A SEASON AGO
In last year's Wisconsin Showcase, the Panther men claimed eight first-place finishes. Among these, Gunnar Seversen posted victories in the 500 freestyle (4:41.84) and 400 individual medley (4:08.20) in his collegiate debut, and Charlie House saw success in the 100 (46.52) and 200 (1:43.28) freestyles.

The women dominated the leaderboard a year ago as well, winning 14 of the 16 events at the meet. Gabrielle LePine and Maddi Hayashi both took home two first-place finishes in their first outings as Panthers with LePine winning the 100 (1:04.05) and 200 (2:25.19) breaststrokes and Hayashi taking home victories in the 100 (58.12) and 200 (2:09.10) butterfly events. Milwaukee also saw first place finishes from Erika Thomas, Mara Freeman, and Elli Moss.

LAST TIME IN THE POOL
Earlier this season, the Panthers competed against a field of conference opponents in Indianapolis, claiming victories against Green Bay on both the men's and women's sides. This matchup marked the earliest competition in program history (Sept. 12), with the previous coming on Oct. 1, 2024.

For the men, Sam Lorenz was a standout in his first appearance in Black and Gold, shattering two school records. Lorenz posted a time of 46.15 in the 100 backstroke and an impressive 19.72 leg in the 200-freestyle relay, etching his name in the record books early in his promising Milwaukee career.

Seversen, the reigning Horizon League Championship Newcomer of the Year, captured two second place finishes in the 200 (1:38.44) and 500 (4:30.64) freestyles. The Panther squad of Lorenz, Seversen, Aleksander Piljevic and House claimed first in the 400-freestyle relay with a time of 3:00.19 to round out the day.

The Panther women competed strongly behind the tandem of LePine and Hayashi. LePine touched the wall first in two events, the 100 (1:03.95) and 200 (2:22.85) breaststroke. Hayashi also walked away with a first-place crown in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.17.

Other notable performers for the Black and Gold included Christiana Brooks securing a victory in the 100 freestyle (51.48), Catelyn Fonda touching the wall second (2:06.74) in the 200 backstroke, and Natalie DiProspero claiming a fourth (4:36.81) place finish in the 400 individual medley.
