MILWAUKEE – The Panther cross country teams prepare for a trip to Peoria, Ill., as they compete in the 21st edition of the Bradley Pink Classic hosted by Bradley University Friday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m.
The runners will compete at Newman Golf Course with the men racing the 8K at 1:30 p.m., followed by the women's 6K at 2:15 p.m. This event marks the team's final tune-up before the Horizon League Championships.
KEY CONTRIBUTORS
Anelise Egge has shined throughout her senior season, sporting top-10 finishes in each of her first three outings. Over her four-year career, Egge has posted 15 top-10 finishes, been named a three-time All-Horizon League first team honoree and was crowned the 2024 Horizon League individual cross country champion.
Rachel Helm is another standout for the Black & Gold, finishing in the top-20 11 times over the last four years, earning All-Horizon League Second Team honors in 2024.
Cullen Boyle has put together a strong senior campaign, placing in the top-20 in each of his races this year and nine times in his career.
This season,
Sam Schreiber has become a consistent top finisher for Milwaukee, putting together a string of top-15 performances, including a seventh-place outing at the Tom Barry Invitational.
LAST TIME OUT
Milwaukee saw action in both the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by Notre Dame and the Wisconsin Lutheran Warrior Invitational in early October.
Egge was the top Panther finisher for the women in Indiana, finishing 43rd out of 180 competing runners in the 5K meet. Her time of 17:04.9 earned her the 5K program record surpassing her own record set at the 2024 Joe Piane Invitational (17:18.2). Egge currently holds both the 5K and 6K Milwaukee cross country program records, solidifying her four years of dominance in the Black & Gold.
Izabel Romero and Helm were the next Panthers to cross the finish line recording times of 18:14.6 and 18:23.5, respectively. At the meet, Helm surpassed her personal 5K best by over 45 seconds.
Grace Kline was the sole athlete competing at the Warrior Invite hosted at nearby Greenfield Park. She had an exceptional day on the course, claiming a sixth-place finish in the 88-runner field setting a personal best of 24:58.75, shaving over six seconds off her previous best.
The Milwaukee men set two personal bests at the Joe Piane Invitational with
Cullen Boyle setting a personal best 8K time (24:49.8), finishing 17th on the day, and
Harper Fahey finishing 90th (26:04.8).
Of the 167 competing runners,
Sam Schreiber completed the race in 47th-place, adding on to his impressive season thus far.
The Black & Gold saw five runners compete at the Warrior Invitational hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran. As a unit, the Panthers finished second out of the 10 teams with each runner finishing within the top-20.
Zach Moss ran his first race of the season at Greenfield Park and sported a third-place finish (27:29.20).
Nathan Powley also saw success on the course, logging an eighth-place finish on the day.
Will Perez,
Sam Blascyk, and
Owen Lincicum crossed the finish like 13th, 15th, and 19th, respectively.
