Block Breaks Second Record in Two Days at Clark Wood Invitational

April 27, 2024

LOUISVILLE – Natalie Block took down a program record for the second day in a row, and the sixth time this season, as the Milwaukee track & field program competed at day two of the Clark Wood Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky.

Block broke Milwaukee's 100m hurdles record with a time of 13.14 seconds, winning the race by more than half of a second. Kynnedi Malone joined her in the race, finishing third with a 13.66 mark. Malone's time earns her the second fastest time in program history.

"I don't recall there being a better overall regular season weekend for our program than what we saw the last three days," head coach Andrew Basler said. "Success is contagious, so once we got things started, the season bests, personal bests, top-ten marks, and program records kept on coming."

"Natalie (Block) continued her tear in the hurdles, this time in the 100mH," Basler continued. "If the wind wasn't slightly over the allowable 2.0m/s, she would have recorded another minimum qualifying time for the US Olympic Trials. Kynnedi (Malone) ran a great personal best to jump up the conference list."

Block and Malone now hold the top two spots in the league for the 100m hurdles heading into next week's championship meet.

Anelise Egge took second place in the 1500m, finishing in 4:29.12, the third fastest time in program history. Katie Burns ran the tenth fastest 400m in Milwaukee history, crossing the line in 12th with a time of 56.44 seconds. Egge and Burns now lead the league in their respective events.

"Our team should be extremely excited coming off this strong weekend with the Horizon League Championships around the corner," Basler said. "There is a tremendous amount of momentum and energy right now and we are excited to keep it going next weekend."

The Horizon League Championships are next for the Panthers and will run from May 3-5 in Rochester, Michigan.
