INDIANAPOLIS – Following a week in which he helped the Panthers to three wins, Milwaukee sophomore
Carson Hansen has been selected as the Horizon League Batter of the Week as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.
Â
Hansen hit .500 this past week (8-for-16), including five doubles with four of those coming in the team's three-game weekend series against Wright State. He now has 17 doubles on the season to lead the Horizon League, which includes a pair of three-double performances this year to tie the single-game program record.
Â
This week, he led Milwaukee with 11 RBIs to give him a team-best 39 on the season, with 29 of those coming in the team's Horizon League contests.
Â
In 2024 he has 40 hits with seven home runs and 39 RBIs, while he has also scored 29 runs. In his two seasons with the Panthers, he has accumulated 50 RBIs on 57 hits, while scoring 35 runs. He also has nine stolen bases in 10 career attempts.
Â
This is the first selection in the career for Hansen as Horizon League Batters of the Week, as he was also a member of the Horizon League All-Freshman Team following the 2023 season.
Â
Hansen becomes Milwaukee's first Batter of the Week since
Luke Seidel earned the distinction on
April 25, 2023. He becomes the second Panther to be recognized by the Horizon League this season, as
Luke Hansel was named Pitcher of the Week on
April 16.
Â
Milwaukee will play later this afternoon, when the team visits the Iowa Hawkeyes at 6:05 p.m. before heading home for a trio of scheduled games this weekend against the league-leading Northern Kentucky Norse.
