MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women's track & field team closed out their season today at the Panther Tune-Up, winning multiple events and adding two marks to Milwaukee's record books.
Anna Szepieniec leaped into the eighth spot on Milwaukee's top ten list in the long jump with a distance of 5.86m (19'2.75").
Aubrie Gorski followed in second at 5.58m (18'3.75"), and
Kallie Volk placed third at 5.54m (18'2").
Morgan Pilate and
Nadia Vo took fourth and fifth.
Adaline Powell moved up to fifth on Milwaukee's triple jump top ten list with a 12.32m (40'5") mark, winning the event. Szepieniec finished in third with a distance of 11.88m (38'11.75").
"Today was an outstanding day to finish off the regular season with the Horizon League Championships right around the corner," head coach
Andrew Basler said. "There were a lot of personal bests as we tuned up for conference."
Vanessa Laundrie took the top spot on the podium in the 60m dash with a time of 7.83 seconds.
Angelica Refinski followed in second with a 7.89 mark.
Jamie Pankrats led an MKE sweep of the top four spots in the weight throw with a distance of 16.59m (54'5").
Cynthia Hernandez placed second at 16.52m (54'2"),
Samantha Satterfield in third at 15.90m (52'2"), and
Tabitha Wechlo in fourth.
Wechlo then led a sweep of the top five spots in the shot put, winning the event with a toss of 13.84m (45'5"). Satterfield placed second at 12.84m (42'1.5"), and
Mercedes Herrera took third with a distance of 11.18m (36'8.25").
Kortnie Volk and Claudia Connor placed fourth and fifth.
Cloey Fare topped the field in the 60m hurdles, crossing the line with a time of 8.71 seconds. Following closely behind Fare was
Brooke Crosby, who took second place with a time of 8.95.
Ella Laughbaum and
Isabel Roloff tied for the top spot in the pole vault, both clearing a height of 3.45m (11'3.75") on their third attempt.
Tia Brennan took third with a height of 3.30m (10'10").
Alexandria Simmons placed second in the high jump by clearing 1.55m (5'1"), and
Eileen Tocco took second in the 800m run with a time of 2:21.19.
Kalea Weyenberg grabbed a third place finish in the 200m dash, finishing in 26.26 seconds.
"We are excited for the challenge that awaits us in Youngstown next weekend," Basler commmented.
Next up for the Panthers is the Horizon League Indoor Championships, taking place February 24
th and 25
th in Youngstown, Ohio.
