Anelise Egge Honored as Horizon League Cross Country Female Athlete of the Year

December 05, 2024

MILWAUKEE- Anelise Egge of the Milwaukee women's cross country team has been named the Horizon League Cross Country Female Athlete of the Year, the league office announced this afternoon.

Egge earned the honors after an outstanding season where she became the third Panther in program history to win the individual title at the Horizon League Championships. She had already earned First-Team All-Horizon League for her championship performance, and was also selected as an honorable mention for the league's All-Academic team.

At the NCAA Regional Meet, Egge set the program-record in the 6K, finishing with a time of 20:41.7. She also set the school's new 5K record at the Joe Piane Invite Oct. 4, with an impressive 17:18.2 finish.

The junior was the first Milwaukee runner to finish at every meet she competed this season, with first-place finishes at the Tom Barry Invite, Phoenix Open, and the Horizon League Championship Meet.

Egge is the first Panther to win the award since Meg Swietlik in the 2020 season, and the third in the program's history.
