CHICAGO- The Milwaukee women's track & field team opened its season on Friday, traveling to Chicago for DePaul's Blue Demon Holiday Invite.
Olivia VanZeeland led the way by taking home the individual victory in the high jump.

Van Zeeland's winning jump of 1.69 meters ties her for fifth place on the school's all-time list in the event.

"Our high jumpers on both sides all performed really well on the day," said head coach
Andrew Basler.

Finding the podium twice on the day,
Morgan Pilate claimed the second spot in the long jump reaching a distance of 5.81 meters. She followed that up in the triple jump, finishing second again at 12.01 meters.

"We brought a small group down here, but we had a lot of positive results," continued Basler, "
Morgan Pilate was a highlight on the day I thought she had a really great start to the season."

Making her collegiate debut,
Victoria Evtimov found her way into the record books, tying for ninth-place in school 200-meter history with her time of 25.15, good for fifth place on the day.

Anna Szepieniec posted the program's sixth-best time in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.66, good for fifth place in the event.

Milwaukee will return to action in 2025 when it travels to Madison on Jan. 11 for the Badgers Midwest Invite.
