MILWAUKEE- The Milwaukee women's swimming and diving team returned to the pool on Saturday, welcoming IU Indianapolis to Klotsche Natatorium for its first dual meet of the season. The Jaguars came away with the victory by a score of, 200-100.

"Today was a great day for IU-Indy to come to town" said head coach
Kyle Clements. "They are a very fast team, and they pushed us to be the best that we could be today. After five weeks of intrasquads and time trails it was great to race another Horizon League team."

The Panthers picked up their first win on the day when
Gunnar Seversen took the top spot in the 1000 freestyle with his time of 9:40.18. He would later post a second-place finish in the 500 with a time of 4:39.55.

In the 50 freestyle,
Ben Lorenz took a first-place finish of his own with a winning time of 20.98. Following that,
Charlie House touched the wall in 46.53 to take the 100 freestyle.

In the 100 breaststroke,
Alvin Valkki (58.18) and
Andrew Jones (58.47) took the second and third spots.
Jay Jensen (1:55.17) had a second-place finish as well in the 200 individual medley.

On the 3m diving board,
Ben Stitgen took third with a score of 285.80.

The Panthers closed the meet on a high note, winning the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:23.62.

Clements finished saying. "Our best today is not what our best will become midseason and Horizon league. We have a long way to go and a lot of work to do, but I am looking forward to the process."

The Panthers will compete again when they travel to Illinois for two meets. First a trip to Chicago to take on UIC on Friday Nov. 1 at 4:00 p.m. They are then back the next day, Saturday Nov. 2 at 1:00 p.m. to face off with Wheaton (Ill.).
