Women's Basketball Fourth in Preseason Poll; Peppler Named to Preseason All-League Team

INDIANAPOLIS – On Wednesday, the Horizon League announced the results of its 2024-25 preseason poll with the Milwaukee Panthers selected fourth in the 11-team league. The league also revealed its Preseason All-League team with junior Kamy Peppler earning honors ahead of the season.
 
After finishing fifth in the 2023-24 regular season standings, the Panthers moved up a spot in the preseason poll as selected by head coaches in the league. Milwaukee earned 85 points, and were just 13 points behind Purdue Fort Wayne, who was selected third.
 
Cleveland State was named the league's preseason favorite by garnering seven first-place votes for a total of 117 points, while Green Bay received the remaining four first-place votes, finishing right behind the Vikings with 114 points. Youngstown State rounded out the top-five, earning 63 points.
 
Peppler makes it six consecutive seasons that Milwaukee has had a student-athlete named to the Preseason All-League Team, joining former teammates Kendall Nead (2023-24), and Megan Walstad (2019-20, 2021-22, 2022-23), as well as Brandi Bisping (2020-21).
 
During her sophomore season, Peppler put together an impressive season with a team-leading 153 assists, placing her second on the single-season list. She was second on the team in scoring at 11.5 points per game, which included a team-best 65 three-point field goals.
 
Within the Horizon League, Peppler was fifth in the league in three-point scoring at 2.0 makes per game, while she was second in assists at 4.8 per game, and fifth in the league in assist/turnover ratio at 1.1. Among returners in the league, she is sixth in minutes per game, averaging 32.4 minutes per game, third most among the Panthers alongside seniors Jada Donaldson (32.9) and Kacee Baumhower (32.5).
 
Rounding out this season's preseason poll were Wright State in sixth (58 points), followed by Northern Kentucky (53), Detroit Mercy (39), Oakland (38), IU Indy (36), and Robert Morris (25).
 
Milwaukee's season gets underway on the road on Monday, Nov. 4 at 5:00 p.m. against St. Thomas. The Panthers begin their home slate two days later against Carroll at 6:00 p.m., while Horizon League action gets underway on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at Youngstown State.
 
Postseason play will begin on Tuesday, Mar. 4 with the First Round with quarterfinal action underway two days later. The semifinals and championship rounds will be on Mar. 10-11 at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis.
