2023 Cross Country Schedule Release

Nine Races Highlight 2023 Milwaukee Cross Country Schedule

July 05, 2023

MILWAUKEE – On Wednesday, head Coach Andrew Basler announced the schedule for the Milwaukee men's & women's cross country programs for the fall season.

This year will feature nine races over the span of 12 weeks beginning on Friday, September 1. The regular season concludes on October 13 before the Horizon League Championship meet on October 28.

The NCAA Great Lakes Regional Meet will be on November 10, with those to qualify reaching the NCAA Championship meet the following weekend on November 18.

"We are excited about the schedule for our cross country teams," noted Basler. "The men and women will get the chance to see some new courses and compete against some solid teams. The women return a veteran roster who have won four of the last five Horizon League Championships."

"Associate Head Coach Jake Reilly has done an amazing job establishing our women as the program to beat in the Horizon League," added Basler. "On the men's side, we will have a good mix of veteran returners and a talented group of newcomers looking to push that program to the top of the Horizon League."

The season begins at the University of Illinois for the Illini Open on September 1 with the start slated for 4:00 p.m. This will be Milwaukee's first visit to the Illinois since the 2006 season, when the Panthers participated in the Illini Challenge in mid-September of that season.

The Panthers' regular season continues the following week on September 8 as Milwaukee travels to Green Bay for the Phoenix Open. The team will head to Terre Haute, Indiana for the John McNichols Invite hosted by Indiana State. Milwaukee will head across state to Platteville, Wisconsin to take part in the Pioneer Gender Equity Invite hosted by UW-Platteville on September 23.

After a brief hiatus, the teams will head to Chicago to take part in the Loyola Lakefront Invitational hosted by Loyola Chicago, when the Panthers take part in the meet for the first time since 2019. The final meet of the regular season will be a regular occurrence from recent years with the team heading to Bradley for the Pink Classic.

The Horizon League Championships will take part two weeks later, on October 28, when Milwaukee heads to southwest Ohio, as Wright State will serve as host for this year's conference championship meet.

The Great Lakes Regional will be back in the state of Wisconsin for the first time since 2019, as Milwaukee will head to the University of Wisconsin for the meet hosted in Madison, Wisconsin on November 10. The NCAA Championship meet will take place on November 18 in Charlottesville, Virginia hosted by the University of Virginia.
