MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women's track & field team kicked off the final weekend of the regular season on Friday, participating in a pair of events as the team competed at the Drake Alternative hosted by Whitewater, while the Clark Wood Invitational was contested at the University of Louisville.
Drake Alternative Summary
Samantha Satterfield led the Panthers on the day as she won the hammer throw at 50.50 meters. She also had a career-best throw in the discus with a 41.13 meters toss.
Lauren Lietzke finished second at Whitewater in the discus with a career-best 45.53-meter throw to move up one spot into third on the all-time list in Panther history.
Cynthia Hernandez was sixth in the hammer throw and moved into 10th place on the outdoor-best at 47.12 meters.
Tabitha Wechlo took third in the shot put for the Panthers with a 13.82-meter throw.
Jamie Pankratz also recorded her first Milwaukee shot put attempt at 11.62 meters.
In more preparation for the heptathlon,
Kortnie Volk and
Jada Schuh were back in the javelin and Volk narrowly edged out her career-best at 32.74 meters and finished fourth, while Schuh was seventh at 31.52 meters. The duo both qualified for the finals in the 100m hurdles with Volk recording a career-best 15.28 and Schuh with a 15.76. Schuh improved her time in the finals with a 15.54.
Enné Burton led the Panthers in the 100m hurdle prelims with a time of 14.99.
Volk led Milwaukee in the 400m dash with a 58.71, her first time running in the one-lap event during the outdoor season.
Courtney Hoppe was second for the Panthers with a 1:02.54 in the 400m dash. Hoppe also led Milwaukee in the 200m dash at 27.34.
Clark Wood Summary
Dominique Thomas returned to action and led the Panthers on the day with a sixth-place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 24.82 to improve her career-best time with the effort.
Isabel Roloff was second for Milwaukee with a 26.72, as she also set a new career-best time.
In the women's 400m hurdles it was
Leah Handshoe to lead the team with a 1:03.66 as she finished sixth, while
Brooke Crosby was close behind with a 1:04.44.
Nadia Vo had a top-10 finish with a 5.57-meter jump to lead the Panthers in the long jump.
Maddy Troy was second for the black and gold with a 5.53-meter jump.
In the women's 800m run,
Anelise Egge led Milwaukee with a new personal-best time of 2:15.90.
Ally Schmitz had a PR time with a 2:18.40 while
Aubrey Anderson recorded a 2:19.88.
