MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee swimming & diving teams nearly swept the Nike® #HLSD Swimmer/Diver of the Week awards, announced this afternoon by the Horizon League office.
Following a pair of victories over Green Bay, the Panthers were honored with both men's and women's diver of the week as well as one swimmer of the week accolade.
Jared Kleczka is the Horizon League Men's Diver of the Week,
Julie Rebek is the Horizon League Women's Diver of the Week, and
Antoni Haupt is the Horizon League Women's Swimmer of the Week.
The award marks the third of the season for Kleczka and the seventh in the career for the MKE veteran. For Rebek, it is also the third of the winter and the third of her career. For Haupt, the first award this season for her marks the second of her MKE career.
The big day represents the seventh, eighth, and ninth time the team has been honored this season (also
Nik Wheeler and
Erika Thomas) with a weekly accolade.
Kleczka was the top Panther performer on the diving boards against Green Bay. He added another NCAA zone score while winning 3-meter, recording a season-best score of 358.43. He also placed third on 1-meter with 310.95 points, adding another zone score.
Rebek was up to the task against Green Bay Saturday, topping both boards while recording both season-best and NCAA Zone-qualifying scores in each event. Rebek claimed the 1-meter with a score of 290.18, followed by the 3-meter at 301.50.
Haupt helped lead the way in the pool as the Panthers claimed 13 of 14 individual events in a 219-73 victory over Green Bay. Haupt continued her strong distance efforts, grabbing first place in the 500 (5:12.85) and 1,000 freestyle (10:40.98) events.
