MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee men's and women's swimming & diving programs are back at the Klotsche Natatorium for a pair of meets this weekend, hosting Davenport University and Wheaton College.
The first meet of the weekend will be against Davenport at 3 PM on Friday, followed by a 1 PM Saturday meet against Wheaton College.
Scouting the Opponents – Davenport
Friday marks the first meeting between Milwaukee and Davenport in the recorded history of either program. Members of NCAA Division 2, the Davenport Panthers compete in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
Finishing fourth at last year's GLIAC Championships, Davenport's women's program currently posts a record of 6-4. The Panthers hold wins over St. Cloud State, Ashland, Eastern Illinois (2), and Saint Ambrose (2). Prior to the team's trip to Milwaukee, Davenport will travel to face UIC at 4 PM on Thursday afternoon.
On the men's side, Davenport finished last year at sixth in the GLIAC and is currently 3-5 on the season. Two of the team's three wins have come against Saint Ambrose, with the third against Ashland. Davenport's men's team will also be in Chicago on Thursday to face UIC.
Scouting the Opponents – Wheaton
In twelve meetings with Wheaton College, Milwaukee's women's program is undefeated, with their last two victories coming by more than 100 points each. The Panthers have faced the Thunder every year (except 2020) since 2010.
After winning last year's CCIW Championships, the Thunder come into Saturday with just one meet under their belts in the 2023-24 season. In a quad-meet at the University of Chicago, Wheaton went 1-2, with their win coming over the Illinois Institute of Technology. Tess Boyer was named the CCIW women's swimmer of the week for her first-place finish in the 200 yard backstroke at the meet.
Milwaukee's men's program will look to stay undefeated as well, coming into the meet 8-0 against Wheaton. Starting their series four years after the women, the Panthers have never lost to the Thunder, winning their most recent encounter by 81 points.
The Thunder men finished as runners-up at last year's CCIW Championship meet and come into the weekend 0-3 in their lone meet, the University of Chicago quad. Mateo Anderson was named the conference Diver of the Week for his second-place finishes on both the 1 meter and 3 meter boards at UChicago.
Last Time Out
The Milwaukee women's swimming and diving program put together an undefeated weekend, going 3-0 over a two-day stretch. After a sixteen point win over former conference foe UIC, the Panthers traveled to Indianapolis to participate in a conference tri-meet against current conference opponents IUPUI and Cleveland State.
Milwaukee recorded double-digit wins over both opponents and won six events on the day.
Carly Plate and
Nhia Caras were both large contributors for the Panthers as they each recorded an individual win and contributed to a relay win.
On the men's side, Milwaukee grabbed a twelve point win over visiting UIC before falling to both IUPUI and Cleveland State in a conference tri-meet in Indianapolis.
The Panthers' efforts were highlighted by
Charlie House and
Jay Jensen. Jensen finished third in the 200 and 500 yard freestyles, while also helping the 200 yard freestyle relay team to a third place finish. House was a part of the relay team with Jensen, and picked up an individual second place finish in the 100 yard freestyle.

After this weekend's meets, the Panthers will travel to Indianapolis for the IUPUI House of Champions Invitational on November 16-18. The invitational marks the last meet of the fall semester for Milwaukee, with the next meet on their schedule coming January 27
th at Green Bay.
