Egge Shines as Panthers Close Out Season at NCAA Regional Meet

November 10, 2023

MADISON – Anelise Egge put her name in the Milwaukee record books for the second time this season, recording a new career-best and the fourth best time in Panthers history today at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional meet.

Egge crossed the line in 28th place, recording a time of 21:09.1. A new career-best for the sophomore, Egge one-upped herself after recording her previous best of 21:17.7 at the Horizon League Championship just two weeks ago.

"Anelise really gave it her all today and gave herself a good shot at all-region, just barely missing it by three spots," head coach Andrew Basler said. "I'm very proud of the whole team and how they responded after the championship meet. We're returning everyone that ran today, and I think they'll bring some fire to the track season and next cross country season as well.

Cailin Kinas was the next Panther to cross the line, finishing in 96th place with a time of 22:10.8. She was followed by Eileen Tocco in 137th with a time of 22:52.5.

Rachel Helm and Ally Schmitz finished in 167th and 168th, posting nearly identical times of 23:17.2 and 23:17.6. Brittany Helm wasn't far behind, finishing in 171st, posting a time of 23:21.4. Anna Gallagher was the final Panther to finish, recording a time of 23:44.1, good enough for 185th.

Barring at at-large bid to the NCAA Championship meet, the Panthers will conclude their 2023 season with 4 top-four finishes, including third place at the Horizon League Championship.
