PEORIA –
Bryce Tome led the way for the Milwaukee men's cross country team with a new career-best time of 25:08.7, placing 52
nd out of 242 runners at the Bradley Pink Classic today. Tome's time was less than 10 seconds out of Milwaukee's top ten 8K times.
Aidan Sodemann was the next to finish for the Panthers, placing 121
st with a time of 25:53.9, while
Lucas Picco and
Carter Eckhoff finished in 129
th and 130
th, respectively. Picco's time of 26:00.5 was a new career best.
As a team, Milwaukee finished 22
nd with a score of 564.
"As a team, we still haven't had our best weekend of the season yet," associate head coach
Jake Reilly said. "We've had some really good individual weekends, but I don't think we've had a complete weekend yet. That gives us a lot of excitement heading into conference in two weeks."
Running in the men's 8K white race,
Aidan Sosnowski took 48
th place out of 178 runners, finishing in a time of 26:40.1, a new career best for the freshman. Also competing in the white race and recording new career-best times were
Trey Meier and
Wade Duffek, who finished 110
th and 127
th, respectively. Milwaukee did not have enough runners to compete for a team score.
"The white race went very well," head coach
Andrew Basler commented. "Their efforts were really good, and it showed with those career-bests."
"Overall, I think we know where we need to be going into the championship in two weeks," Basler added. "It's a much smaller race, so we know exactly where we need to be in the pack to perform how we want."
Up next for the Panthers is the Horizon League Championship meet, which is set for October 28
th and is hosted by Wright State.
