SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Milwaukee women's cross country team recorded five personal bests and a seventh place finish and the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite Friday afternoon.
The Panthers scored 221 points and finished 7
th overall in a pool of 19, and notably ahead of Horizon League foes Youngstown State, IUPUI, Green Bay and Cleveland State. Nebraska took the top spot with 70 points, while Cal Poly (71) and Montana State (75) rounded out the top three.
"We ran extremely well on a fast course today," said head coach
Andrew Basler. "I thought we ran a lot better than at Indiana State, and it was good to finish ahead of our conference rivals. We're took some really good steps forward."

Emily Burns nearly finished on each other's heels, with Swietlik leading the pack in the Women's Gold 5000m. Swietlik finished 34
th with a time of 17:58.2, while Kinas (18:02.4) and Burns (18:03.0) finished with personal bests for 36
th and 37
th, respectively.
"I think the women went out with the mindset that they were going to run fast, and they were going to run fast no matter what and it really showed today," associate head coach
Jake Reilly said. "It was a huge team score and good scores across the board."
Freshman
Anna Gallagher (18:26.6) and junior
Brittany Helm (18:36.6) also recorded PR's and rounded out the scoring for the Black & Gold.
Senior
Madison Hughes (66
th) also turned in a personal best with a time of 18:36.6.
Milwaukee will take off a week off from competition and will return to action Friday, October 14 at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Ill.
