MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee men's basketball program will open the 2022-23 conference season the first week of December, playing at Green Bay to open the slate December 1 before the first conference home game at UWM Panther Arena against IUPUI two days later.
 
A challenging road trip in front of the New Year gets the extended portion of the league slate underway, playing at Oakland and Detroit Mercy programs who finished in the top six of the standings last winter.
 
The team also wraps up the regular season with five of the final seven contests at home to close out the campaign in February, according to the Horizon League schedule released today by the league office.

First-year head coach Bart Lundy will get conference play underway with the short trip up to Green Bay to open December, opening against the Phoenix before coming back home two days later to host the Jaguars.
 
Following a short break for more non-conference action, the team then embarks on a challenging road trip, closing out the 2022 calendar portion of the year with games at Oakland Dec. 29 and Detroit Mercy Dec. 31. The Golden Grizzlies went 20-12 last year which included some very impressive non-league wins, while the Titans finished 10-7 in league play.
 
Things get no easier from there, as January opens with four straight contests against the top four finishers from last season. Up first is a road trip to take on Cleveland State Jan. 5, playing a team that shared the regular-season title last year with a 15-6 record. Then, two days later, it's a showdown with the other co-league champ, battling Purdue Fort Wayne Jan. 7.
 
It's back home for four straight, starting with a Northern Kentucky squad Jan. 12 that went 20-12, including 14-6 in league play last year. Two days later, Wright State invades UWM Panther Arena, coming off a season in which it finished 22-14 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament after entering the league tournament as the No. 4 seed following a 15-7 ledger.
 
The longest homestand of the conference season then concludes with visits from Robert Morris Jan. 19 followed by Youngstown State Jan. 21.
 
The first contest of the second half of league play will be at Wright State Jan. 26, followed by a trek to NKU two days later.
 
The road trip stretches one more contest with a visit to IUPUI to open February (Feb. 2), followed by a home rematch with Green Bay Feb. 6.
 
That's the first of three consecutive downtown, also welcoming Detroit Mercy Feb. 9 and Oakland Feb. 11. The last road trip of the schedule sees trips to Youngstown State Feb. 16 followed by a visit to Robert Morris two days later.
 
The regular season then concludes with home matchups against the PFW Mastodons Feb. 23 and CSU two days later.
