LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the fourth straight year and eighth time in the last 10 seasons, the Milwaukee volleyball team was honored with an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The Panthers are one of 212 NCAA Division I teams to earn the distinction, which is presented by the United States Marine Corps (USMC).
The award, which was initiated in 1992-93, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 on a 5.0 scale. The Panthers recorded a team GPA of 3.720 and were one of only 43 teams to make the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll which includes the top 20 percent from each division.
The Milwaukee volleyball team finished the year with the second-best GPA of all 15 Milwaukee teams and had 13 members with a 3.0 or better including 11 with at least a 3.6 GPA.
