Cailin Kinas,
Meg Swietlik, and
Trevor Wenzel of Milwaukee cross country were named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.
To be eligible for the Horizon League All-Academic team, student-athletes must participate in 50 percent of the team's overall games, completed one year at the school, and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
It's the third straight honor for Burns, who owns a 4.0 GPA in her education major. Burns earned an All-League Second Team honor thanks to a 14th-place finish at the Horizon League Championships to help the Panthers secure their third straight title.
Kinas also holds a 4.0 in her work toward nutritional sciences and it marks the first time she's earned a spot on the All-Academic team. Kinas had an terrific year on the course highlighted by a fourth-place finish at the Horizon League Championships.
For Swietlik, the award is the second of her career after earning the honor in 2021. She has a 3.85 GPA in her work toward a Master's of Curriculum and Instruction. She's been a leader each season for Milwaukee and once again shined at the league championships, leading the Panthers to a title with a podium finish of third place.
Wenzel capped his career with his fourth all-academic recognition and is also working toward a master's degree with a 3.87 GPA. The senior led MKE all season and was the top finisher at the Horizon League Championships with a sixth-place finish, earning him a spot on the All-League First Team. Wenzel set school records in both the 8,000-meter (24:12.8) and 10,000-meter (31:04.6) distances this fall.
