MILWAUKEE – Freshman
Anna Gallagher of the Milwaukee women's cross country team has been named Horizon League Freshman Runner of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
This marks the first league accolade Gallagher has earned in her young collegiate career.
Gallagher, a Two Rivers native, ran an 18:26.6 5,000m race last Friday at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational in the women's gold division. The 18:26.6 time was fast enough for a new personal record and she placed 53
rd overall in a pool of 145 runners. Gallagher was one-of-five Panther runners to score in the event and helped the team to a seventh place finish out of 19 teams.
MKE is back in action at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Ill. Next Friday, October 14. The race is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. from the Newman Golf Course.
