KENOSHA, Wis. – Rachel Helm and
Anelise Egge of the Milwaukee women's cross country team helped lead the Panthers to a team victory at the Ranger Open Saturday afternoon at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course.
Milwaukee scored 27 points in the 6,000m race with all of the team's runners finished in the top-20. Host Parkside finished in second with 35 points, while Carthage (60) and Beloit (115) finished after the Rangers.
"I thought our women's squad demonstrated the depth of our women's team today at the Ranger Open," said head coach
Andrew Basler. "Looking at today's and yesterday's (Notre Dame) race, our number four through 10 runner, on any given day, can step up and score for us which is showcases our depth as we head into Championship season."
Freshman duo
Rachel Helm and
Anelise Egge nearly finished together, crossing the finish line at 23:20.5 and 23:27.8 for second and third place. UW-Parkside's Katja Bauerle earned medalist honors with a time of 22:23.6.
Sophomore
Eileen Tocco cracked the top-five as well, finishing in fourth place with a time of 23:45.99.
Senior
Madison Franseen (24:13.1) and
Ally Schmitz (25:02.8) rounded out the scoring for the Panthers, while
Aubrey Anderson knocked down a 25:51.2 time.
Milwaukee will take off a week off from competition and will return to action Friday, October 14 at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Ill.
