MILWAUKEE – DeAndre Gholston has signed with the Milwaukee men's basketball team, head coach
Pat Baldwin announced today.
Gholston comes to the Panthers after a successful year at Tallahassee Community College in Tallahassee, Fla. His collegiate career started the year prior with one season at Kent State.
"DeAndre is a multifaceted player with the ability to shoot the three, attack the basket and finish at the rim with his athleticism," Baldwin said. "DeAndre will add experience, competitiveness and a great will to win. I am excited to add someone of Deandre's talent."
He played in 33 games with the Eagles last season, averaging 11.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per contest on his way to Second Team All-Panhandle Conference honors. He shot 50.4 percent from the floor, which included 44.1 percent on three-point attempts. He earned Region 8 Player of the Week accolades Nov. 11, coming after he scored 27 points against Enterprise State and 16 against Spartanburg Methodist. Scored in double-figures on 19 occasions, grabbing a season-high nine rebounds three different times.
He spent the 2018-19 campaign at Kent State, scoring 19 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in 15 games.
Gholston enjoyed a highly-successful high school career, claiming three sectional crowns and two regional championships. Named Independent High School Player of the Year, he averaged 21.6 points and 10.6 rebounds per game as a senior and led his 21
st Century Charter School team to an Indiana High School Elite Eight appearance, finishing with a 21-7 overall record.
