MILWAUKEE – Te'Jon Lucas of the Milwaukee men's basketball team has been named the Nike® Horizon League Player of the Week, the league office announced today.
Lucas led Milwaukee to a 2-0 week by averaging 23.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. He shot 50 percent from the field (15-of-30), including 54 percent (7-of-13) from 3-point range and 82 percent (9-of-11) from the line.
Following a 15-point effort in the win against the Flames Thursday, Lucas carried the Panthers to the 80-79 OT victory Saturday at IUPUI. He tied his career-high with 31 points, which included the game-winner in overtime with just 7.0 seconds left on the clock. He also added a career-high 12 rebounds for his second career double-double.
He netted 16 of his 31 points in the final 7:30 of regulation and the 5-minute OT period, playing that entire span with four fouls.
The award is the second of the season for Lucas. He was also named the Horizon League Player of the Week today by the
College Sports Madness website.
