MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Junior
Meg Swietlik of the Milwaukee women's cross country team was named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I Women's All-Academic Athlete, USTFCCCA announced.
This is the first individual honor in program history.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.
Swietlik was recognized after her standout season on the course as well as in the classroom.
The junior broke the 6,000m (6K) school record at the regional championships after placing 24th overall to earn All-Region honors. She is only the fourth Panther to do so in program history.
The Elm Grove native also had an impressive third-place finish at the league championships, earning her First-Team All-League honors for the first time in her career.
In the classroom, Swietlik carries a remarkable 3.876 GPA as a junior and had a 4.0 GPA for the 2019 fall semester while majoring in the competitive and vigorous Kinesiology program.
Overall, there were 166 women who were named All-Academic Individuals in NCAA Division I.
