Cotter earns second-consecutive honor

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Senior Alex Cotter and junior Jake Wendt of the Milwaukee men's track and field team swept the weekly honors after being named the Horizon League's Runner and Field Athletes of the week, the league office announced Tuesday.

This marks the second-consecutive honor for Cotter just this season and the second-career honor for Wendt.

In the cross-town battle against Marquette, senior Alex Cotter grabbed a big lead in the 800m race in a personal record time of 1:54.49 to take home the win. The Madison, Wis. native now leads the league in both the 800m and mile.

Jake Wendt continues to prove to be one of the best in the league in the throw events. The junior won both the shot put and weight throw in the dual against Marquette. The reigning weight throw league champion threw for a mark of 15.62m (51-3) in shot put while launching a 17.33m (56-10 1/4) weight throw.

The Panthers will be back on the road for the two-day Illini Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 24-25, in Urbana-Champaign, Ill. hosted by Illinois.
