Panthers Unable to Contain The Flames

Milwaukee still leads the all-time series 24-6

CHICAGO – The Milwaukee women's swimming and diving team were unable to contain the UIC Flames in the dual meet on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Flames Natatorium in Chicago, Ill.
 
UIC outscored Milwaukee 184-115, but the Panthers still lead the all-time series, 24-6.
 
The Panthers took home three event wins on the day, including the 200 medley relay of Molly Meland, Andrea Bellart, Hannah Pozezinski, and Kelen McDaniels who touched the wall in 1:45.09. 
 
Freshman Kelen McDaniels then sprinted her way to a top-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 24.55. Teammate Natalie Hey finished right behind in second place in 24.88.
 
Sophomore Giulia Guerra-Montes grabbed the final event win for the Panthers with a first-place finish in the 200 back (2:08.88) while teammate Mia Piljevic claimed second with a time of 2:10.52.
 
Freshman McKenzie Sanchez took home a pair of second-place finishes on both the one-meter and three-meter with a score of 260.63 and 249.90 respectively.
 
The Panthers also grabbed three second- and third-place finishes. First in the 100 fly, Meland (58.02) and sophomore Bella Passamani (59.28) finished second and third, while Meland grabbed another second-place finish in the 100 back (59.02) and Piljevic claimed third place (59.62). Lastly, Guerra-Montes (2:10.37) and freshman Bri Zablocki (2:13.26) also finished second and third in the 200 IM. 
 
Sophomore Andrea Bellart grabbed a pair of third-place finishes in both the 100 breast and 200 breast, touching the wall in 1:07.75 and 2:31.00 respectively.
 
Zablocki had another top finish in the 200 fly, taking home third place with a time of 2:10.17 while McDaniels took home third place in the 100 free (54.00). 
 
Sophomore Madeline Worgull went the distance in the 1000 free to also take third (10:52.32).
 
To cap off the night, the 200 free relay of McDaniels, Meland, Meegan Snyman, and Natalie Hey finished second with a time of 1:38.62.

The Milwaukee diving team will see action next on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 23-24, at the IUPUI House of Champions Diving Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind.
