MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee swim & dive team took home the victory on Senior Day against Stevens Point 170-86 in the Klotsche Natatorium Saturday.
"This meet is always full of mixed emotion," said head coach
Kyle Clements. "We have turned our sole focus to our end-of-season swims. Everything is about the Badger First Chance Meet or the Horizon League meet. These two meets will encapsulate our entire session, but the senior meet always makes us reflect."
The Black & Gold saw four swimmers set new season-bests, highlighted by
Erika Thomas' performance in the 500 Freestyle.
Thomas secured three victories on the day, including her season-best 500 Freestyle outing of 5:11.90. Her other two wins came in the 100 Freestyle (54.05) and the 200 Medley Relay (1:50.52).
Lilly Nesson also secured a new season-best on Senior Day, finishing the 200 Freestyle in 2:02.09. She finished the event second, only trailing teammate
Anika Svenning (2:01.44).
In the 1000 Freestyle,
Audrey Dixon turned in a new season-best performance, clocking a time of 10:40.24.
Katherine Hackett was the fourth Panther to notch a season-best on the day, finishing third in the 100 Breaststroke.
Kristina Wittmann swept the diving events for the third week in a row, taking the top spot on the podium in the 1-meter Dive (283.58) and 3-meter Dive (277.43).
Gabrielle LePine and
Mara Freeman both turned in two winning efforts at the meet. LePine won the 100 Breaststroke (1:08.11) and 200 Freestyle Relay, while Freeman won the 100 Backstroke (57.63) and had a part in the 200 Medley Relay top performance.
"We watch our seniors swim for the last time at the K and it's hard not to think about all the time and work they have put in," added Clements. "We are proud of every one of them and thankful that they chose to spend their college career with us."
