MILWAUKEE – Fans of the Milwaukee men's basketball team got their first look at the 2019-20 squad in action Thursday night, coming out to the Klotsche Center for the annual "Black & Gold" Scrimmage.
In a closely-contested matchup featuring two 10-minute halves, the GOLD team came out on top, 32-27, putting the game away late with a defensive stop.
Season ticket members and students were able to enjoy the evening, seeing the Panthers in action for the first time in addition to hearing from head coach
Pat Baldwin, who addressed the crowd pregame. Fans were able to watch a dunk contest, enjoy Ian's Pizza and participate in other contests.
A balanced effort led the way for GOLD, getting 11 points and seven rebounds from
Josh Thomas and 10 points from
Darius Roy.
On the BLACK roster,
Wil Sessoms had a team-best nine points and four rebounds.
With a chance for BLACK to draw within one possession late,
Bobby Arthur-Williams drew a key offensive foul to ice the victory for GOLD.
The Panthers are back in action in one week, welcoming Cardinal Stritch to the Klotsche Center for an exhibition contest Oct. 31.
