MILWAUKEE – DeAndre Abram of the Milwaukee men's basketball team has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week, the league office announced today.
Abram led Milwaukee to a 2-0 week with back-to-back double-doubles against UMKC and Wisconsin Lutheran. He averaged 22.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in the pair of games, shooting 63.0 percent (17-27) from the floor and 60 percent (9-15) from three-point range.
Abram went for 20 points and 10 rebounds against UMKC, playing a key role in the comeback victory. He followed that up by nearly setting a career high against WLC Sunday, leading the charge with a 25 point/11 rebound outing, just missing his career-high of 27 points.
The award is a first for Abram and the first for a Panther since December of 2015. Abram was also named the Horizon League Player of the Week today by the College Sports Madness website.
