MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Milwaukee women's swim & dive team took down conference for UIC Homecoming Saturday by a final score 174.5-125.5 from Klotsche Nattorium.
The Panthers were consistent from beginning to end in the dual against Horizon League opponent UIC. MKE was led by seniors
Addison Skogman and
Jenn Kordik and freshman
Giulia Guerra-Montes as the three racked up two individual event victories.
2017-18 Women's 400 IM Champion picked up right where she left off a season ago winning the 1000 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle events Saturday. Skogman went the distance finishing a full five seconds ahead of the runner up in 10:34.09 Later in the day, the senior split her time in half for another win in the 500 Freestyle coming in with a time of 5:11.76.
Freshman
Giulia Guerra-Montes continued to shine racking up two more event wins in her young career. After helping her teammates
Jenn Kordik,
Isabella Passamani and
Shelby Rozeboom to a victory in the 400 Medley Relay, Montes came in at 58.85 in the 100 Backstroke for the win. Fellow classmate
Mia Piljevic followed right behind at 59.74 for third place.
MKE's
Jenn Kordik also came away with two event wins taking the 100 and 200 Breaststroke events and finished second in 100 IM. In the 100, the Panthers took the top three spots with Kordik leading the way at 1:06.20. Kristi Larsen and
Makaila Scheiblein came in right behind with a final time of 1:08.13 and 1:08.65.
Senior
Shelby Rozeboom sprinted her way to first and second place finishes in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle on Saturday adding to the Panthers successful afternoon. Rozeboom finished the 50 in a fast 23.91 for first place, while timing in at 53.11 in the 100 – good for second.
In the dive events, MKE's
Cassidy Pilo finished runner-up in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive events. In the 3-meter, Pilo tallied 238.05 points and classmate
Kendra Wulf followed right behind for third. Then in the 1-meter, Pilo combined for a score of 243.83 points with teammate
Ashley Thein scoring 219.68 for third as well.
The Panthers wrapped up the dual in winning fashion with a first place finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay. Rozeboom, Emma Hlegeson,
Cassandra Hutchins and Kristi Larsen teamed up for a final time 1:37.78 for the top spot at the podium.
MKE will have some downtime from competition until their big mid-season showcase for the 25
th annual Miami Invitational. The Invite will run from Nov. 29-Dec. 1 hosted by Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
