Panthers Tip Off 2018-19 With Exhibition Thursday

Milwaukee to host Parkside at 7 pm

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women's basketball team gets its 2018-19 season underway Thursday evening with its lone exhibition contest, hosting Parkside at 7 pm from the Klotsche Center.

The Panthers are coming off yet another outstanding season where they advanced to the postseason for a program-record third consecutive year. They won their first round game of the Postseason WNIT before falling to eventual champion Indiana.

Head coach Kyle Rechlicz will have a different look this year, however, with the graduation of the winningest class in program history. While over 60-percent of last year's scoring has graduated, MKE still returns a pair of starters in Jamie Reit and McKaela Schmelzer. The Panthers also will benefit from the additions of transfer Bre Cera and a highly touted freshman class, headlined by Minnesota's "Miss Basketball" Megan Walstad.

Parkside enters the season with high hopes under the direction of new head coach Jen Conely, who inherits a squad that returns 75-percent of its scoring from a season ago.
