Black & Gold Scrimmage Welcomes 2018-19 Season

GOLD prevails, 52-46

MILWAUKEE - Fans of the Milwaukee men's basketball team got their first look at the 2018-19 squad in action Thursday night, coming out to the Klotsche Center for the annual "Black & Gold" Scrimmage.

In a closely-contested matchup featuring two 12-minute halves, the GOLD team came out on top, 52-46, pulling away late after overcoming an eight-point halftime deficit.

A crowd of close to 500 fans, students and season-ticket holders were able to enjoy the evening, seeing the Panthers in action for the first time in addition to hearing from head coach Pat Baldwin, who addressed the crowd pregame. Students were able to enjoy Ian's Pizza and participate in other contests.

Te'Jon Lucas paced the winning roster, finishing with 13 points which included a 3-for-4 effort from three-point range. Three other players added eight points each, including Elijah Goodman – who added a game-high 14 rebounds in 17 minutes of action in the walk-on's debut. A large contingent from the baseball team was there in the stands to cheer on their teammate all night.

On the BLACK roster, DeAndre Abram led the way with nine points, while Jake Wright finished with eight.

Some roster changes were made at intermission with players switching teams.

The Panthers are back in action in less than two weeks, welcoming Concordia University Wisconsin to the Klotsche Center for an exhibition contest Oct. 31.
