VALPARAISO, Ind. – The Milwaukee men's swim and dive team swept all 11 events in their dual meet against former Horizon League foe Valparaiso today at the ARC Pool.
It was truly a team effort on the Panthers behalf as nine different individuals finished at the top of their respective events, in addition to two relay teams winning their races outright.
UWM set the tone right away winning the 200-yard medley relay at 1:37.81. Jasper Appleton,
Tim Greci,
Kareem Nofel and
Ahmed Ghallab beat out Valpo 1:37.81 to 1:39.70.
Freshmen
Colin Duffy and
Andrew Grever continued to go the distance for the Panthers placing one-two in the 1000 freestyle timing in at 10:02.53 and 10:07.09.
In back-to-back events, the Panthers swept the podium. Ben Cadel swam an impressive 1:46.07, while teammates
Andrew Kasper (1:47.77) and
Patrick Kelley (1:48.66) finished close behind in the 200-yard freestyle.
Within tenths of a second of one another, UWM's
Ahmed Ghallab, Will Hobbs and
Bailey Bodart finished in 1-2-3 fashion in the 50-yard freestyle. Ghallab led the pack coming in at 22.07, while Hobbs and Bodart finished in at 22.58 and 22.75 respectively.
Senior
Kyle Gerum helped wrap up the meet with a first place finish in the 100-yard backstroke. Gerum timed in at 54.14 with second place Crusader, Max Penn touching the board at 55.34.
Milwaukee is right back at it traveling to Wright State Saturday at 11 a.m. from WSU Natatorium.
